Abstract
The effect of grafting monomer on the ring opening rate of epoxy group in epoxy resin molecular type E-20was studied. The method of free radical graft copolymerization was adopted in the water-soluble modification of epoxy resin. Taking benzoyl peroxide as an initiator, acrylic acid, butyl methacrylate and styrene were selected as the grafting monomer and then grafted to epoxy resin E-20 molecules through free radical reaction to make self emulsified epoxy emulsion. It was proved that the modified epoxy resin emulsion has low organic volatile and meets with requirements of environmental protection.
