To Measure the Half Lethal Dose of Paraquat in Mice

Abstract
Objective To measure the half lethal dose(LD_(50))of paraquat in mice.Methods Totally 60 mice in half genders were randomly divided into 6 groups,each had 10 mice.Feed the mice with different doses of liquor of paraquat and observe the toxic symptom.Then calculate the LD_(50) of paraquat and its 95% onfident limit with probability.Results The times of movement of mice reduced after feed paraquat.Before death,the mice had toxicosis symptom of a low respiratory rate,gasping breath and flapping of nosewing,and so on.The LD_(50) of paraquat was 104.72 mg·kg~(-1) and its 95% confident limit was 94.26～116.32 mg·kg~(-1).Conclusion Paraquat is a pesticide with moderate toxicity.
