Efficacy of thrombolysis therapy with intravenous rt-PA for acute cerebral infarction

Objective To investigate the efficacy of thrombolysis therapy with intravenous recombinant tissue-type plasminogen activator(rt-PA)for acute cerebral infarction(ACI).Methods The thrombolysis therapy for ACI patients within four and half hours after onset was performed in 30 cases treated with rt-PA 0.6mg/kg(the maximal dose was 60mg)(group A)and 34cases with rt-PA 0.9mg/kg(the maximal dose was 90 mg)(group B).The efficacy of thrombolysis therapy was evaluated by the Naional Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS)before and at 24hours,on the 7th day,28th day and 90th day after treatment.The modified Rankin scale and the Activity of Daily Living scale(Barthel Index)were scored.Results Compared to before,the NIHSS neurological funcition scores of two groups were significantly improved at 24hours,on the 7th day,28th day and 90th day after treatment(P0.01).The intracerebral hemorrhage within 90days after treatment occurred in 2 cases(6.6%)of group A and 4cases(11.7%)of group B.The mortality within 90days after treatment was 3.3%(one case)for group A and 8.8%(3cases)for group B.Couclusion The thrombolysis therapy with intravenous low-dose rt-PA(0.6 mg/kg)is effective and safe in ACI patients within four and half hours after onset.
