The Significance of Literary Style for the Initial Forming of the Concept of Novel——Revisit the Concept of the Novel in Liu Xie's Wen Xin Diao Long

The traditional concept of novel takes the Little Tao as the core standard in Pre-Qin and Two Han dynasties,academic characteristic of which is more remarkable than the literary one.Liu Xie's Wen Xin Diao Long representing the literary theory in the Six Dynasties had inherited the traditional concept of novel in the theoretical aspect.It regarded novel as one kind of academic writing styles instead of literary writing style,and neglected its literary characteristic which prevailed in the works of Wei and Jin dynasties.This caused the separation of theory and composition in the concept of novel as being demonstrated in Wen Xin Diao Long.Attention shall be drawn to the macro environment of novel development in the studying of the concept of novel,and particularly to the exact situations in the composition of miscellaneous biographies and so on.
