Strategy of ecological protection for water source supply areas of the Yellow River in southern Gansu Province

The Yellow River originates in Qinghai Province and forms in the southern Gansu Province. The upstream water sources supply areas in the southern Gansu province possesses very important ecological status and plays an very important role in the River safety, the basin ecological safety and economical development. Attaching importance to and strengthening the ecological protection and construction of the Yellow River sources area is of vital importance not only to the southern Gansu Province's economic development, but also to the safety of Chinese Nation's mother river-the Yellow River, even to the ecological safety and sustainable economical development of the Yellow River Basin and the whole nation. This paper points out the existing problems in the upstream water sources supply area of the Yellow River and put forward corresponding countermeasures.
