Abstract

Objective:To probe into the expression of CD146 and microvessel density(MVD) in tissues of prostatic carcinomas and their correlation with prostatic carcinoma. Methods:Expression of CD146 protein and MVD in 39 cases of prostate cancer tissue,20 cases of precancerosis and 20 cases of benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH)tissue were examined by immunohistochemical SP method. Results:In primary prostate cancer group, the total positive rate of CD146 was 82.05%(32/39),which was higher than that in precancerosis and BPH.The expression of CD146 was not correlated with the pathological grade of prostate cancer(P0.05),and there were significant differences between stage A,B and C,D(P0.05).Of all the primary prostate cancer tissues, the average MVD was 38.75±9.50,and the microvessel counting in prostate cancers was significantly correlated with the pathological grade and clinical stage. Conclusion:Overexpression of CD146 may play a certain role in the angiogenesis of primary prostate cancers. The expression of CD146 and angiogenesis closely correlate with the development, progress and metastasis of PCa.The findings suggest that CD146 and MVD examination are helpful to evaluate the tumor development and prognosis.
