Abstract
The main cables of a suspension bridge are the major components carrying and transferring loads on the bridge. The quality of the wire strands forming the main cables has a direct influence on the quality of the whole suspension bridge. In this paper, based on the analysis of the manufacturing and erection procedures of the 127-wire prefabricated parallel wire strands (PPWS) for the main cables of the suspension bridge (south bridge) of Runyang Bridge, the methods for construction (both manufacturing and erection) quality control of the main cables of the bridge are provided.
