Abstract

Objective To compare the effects of terbinafine and compound ketoconazole cream on dermatophytosis. Methods Sixty patients with dermatophytosis were randomly divided into 2 groups.Thirty patients were treated with terbinafine ointment.Thirty patients were treated with compound ketoconazole cream. The effects were evaluated after the treatment. Results The total effective rates at the end of treatment were 73%(22/30) for terbinafine group and 57%(17/30) for compound ketoconazole group(P0.05);and the total effective rates were 97%(29/30) for terbinafine group and 47%(14/30) for compound ketoconazole group(P0.05) 2 weeks after treatment.Mycological clearance rates were 83% for terbinafine group and 53% for compound ketoeonazole group(P0.05) at the end of treatment;and 97% for terbinafine group and 37%for compound ketoeonazole group(P0.01) 2 weeks after treatment. There were no adverse reactions in both groups. Conclusions Topical terbinafine is better than compound ketoconazole cream in the treatment of dermatophytoses.
