Abstract

The effects of sub-temperature quenching and low tempering on the quenched 40Cr steel and annealed 40Cr steel were studied. The study shows that the best heat treatment process is 40Cr steel is pre-quenched at 920 ℃ and sub-temperature quenched at 790 ℃ and low tempered at 200 ℃.Compared with that of traditional quenching and low tempering treatment, the σb,δ,αk and hardness was increased 9%,16%,25% and 6% respectively, the wear mass loss quantity was decreased 67%.
