Abstract

The Eastern Miscellany was a comprehensive periodical,which was started by Commercial Press in 1904.It played a positive role in communicating science technology around the May 4th movement period.There are many features of the Eastern Miscellany in communicating science technology.It spread not only scientific-technological knowledge but also the spirit of science.The Eastern Miscellany focused on timely,popular and practical contents,using pictures in order to enhance communication effects.The Eastern Miscellany played an important role in communicating science technology,enlightening the public and excoriating superstitious beliefs as well.
