Abstract

To research the suitability of Ammodendron argenteum(Pall.) Kuntze seedlings to salt and drought stress,we studied the contents of osmotic adjusting substances in leaves of A.argenteum seedlings under salt and drought stress by pot culture. The results showed that proline and soluble sugar contents increased significantly with the stress intensified and kept higher than that of the control under all the stresses. Moreover, they all kept at a high level under different stresses. The contents of soluble protein decreased under severe drought and different salt intercross stresses, which were corresponding with the increasement of proline contents.Threrfore, osmotic adjusting substances played an active role on resistance. In conclusion,A.argenteum seedings showed some tolerance to salt, drought and intercrosses stresses.
