Investigation on the missing reports of communicable diseases in medical institutions in Guangxi in 2006

Objective To evaluate the operating efficiency and quality of direct network reporting of legal communicable diseases by missing reports investigation.To provide scientific basis for further perfecting management of communicable diseases.Methods In accordance with theCommunicable Diseases Prevention and Guangxi communicable diseases in medical institutions investigating and quality management program,the survey of missing reports of legal communicable diseases was carried out in 87 institutions at three levels in the period of Jan to Sep,2006.Results A total of 4 637 infections were surveyed,612 of them without being reported,with an average rate of 13.20% missing.The missing report rates varied in different areas,Beihai City being the lowest:0%,Hechi City being the highest:29.37%.The missing report rates of type B and C communicable diseases were 17.85% and 30.48%;the missing report rates in medical institutions of four levels(provinces,cities,counties and rural areas)were 13.85%,11.16%,14.74% and 21.70%.The relatively high rate of disease report missing was acute hemorrhagic conjunctivitis,malaria,AIDS,gonorrhea,rubella,and pertussis.Conclusions Various medical institutions at all levels should pay medical attention to communicable diseases,and strengthen the management of communicable diseases.
