Epidemiology of notifiable communicable diseases in Taiyuan municipality in Shanxi province,2005-2009

Objective To analyze the incidence tendency of notifiable communicable diseases in Taiyuan in recent 5 years and to provide scientific evidence for developing prevention and control measures.Methods The descriptive epidemiological analysis was conducted on the incidence data of communicable diseases in Taiyuan collected from national disease reporting information system.Results A total of 112 513 cases of communicable diseases were reported from 2005 to 2009 with the average annual morbidity of 651.39/lakh and mortality of 0.24/lakh.Conclusion The morbidity and mortality were in increase during this period.The priority diseases included hepatitis,dysentery,tuberculosis,sexual transmitted diseases and emerging communicable diseases,such as hand foot and mouth disease and influenza A(H1N1) pdm 09.It is necessary to strengthen the prevention and control of communicable diseases.
