Abstract
Objective To investigate the change of the concentration of N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide(NT-proBNP) in chronic heart failure(CHF) patients and the correlations between the concentrations of cardiac troponinⅠ(cTnI)and NT-proBNP.Methods In analyzing 166 cases of CHF patients, their heart functions were classified into level Ⅰ-Ⅳ(Ⅰlevel 15 cases,Ⅱ level 57 cases,Ⅲ level 54 cases and Ⅳ level 40 cases) according to the criteria of American New York Heart Association(NYHA).The concentrations of serum cTnI and NT-proBNP were determined and analyzed in the CHF group(166 cases) and the control group(45 cases). The relationship between the concentrations of NT-proBNP and cTnI and the age of the patients were analyzed. Results The levels of NT-proBNP and cTnI in CHF group and each subgroup of NYHA class were significantly higher than those in the control group(P0.01).With the aggravation of NYHA class, the levels of NT-proBNP and cTnI were increasing(P0.01).The cases of over-normal reference range were added. In the CHF group, the age and the concentrations of serum cTnI and NT-proBNP were positively correlated [correlation coefficients(r): 0.664 and 0.217,P0.01].Conclusions NT-proBNP is a good cardiac marker for the diagnosis of CHF,and it also reflects the severity of CHF.cTnI increases with the concentration of NT-proBNP increasing.
