Thorough Explanation of Qu and Ci of Song, Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, written by WANG Xue-qi and WANG Jing-zu, is a broad and deep reference book on China play language, which is a big step forward from any previous such book in vocabulary of different times, origin of words and expressions, and variant constitutions, and so on. This paper introduces some marked characteristics of the book with examples.
