Therapeutic Efficacy of Different Probiotic Preparations Combined with Olsalazine in the Treatment of Mild and Moderate Ulcerative Colitis

OBJECTIVE:To observe clinical efficacy of different probiotic preparations combined with olsalazine for mild and moderate ulcerative colitis.METHODS:In randomized controlled study,a total of 60 patients with mild and moderate ulcerative colitis were randomly divided into 3 groups,i.e.Jinshuanqi group(Jinshuanqi +olsalazine),Meichang'an group(Meichang'an+Olsalazine),Olsalazine group(Olsalazine) with each group of 20 cases.The clinical symptom score,colon mucosa inflammation score and endoscopic grade score were calculated and compared among 3 groups.The fecal microbiota was analyzed.The treatment course lasted for 24 months,following-up for 48 months.Normal control group was established for the fecal microbiota analysis.RESULTS:The clinical symptom score,colon mucosa inflammation score,endoscopic grade score and the fecal microbiota analysis in Jinshuangqi group and Meichang'an group were significantly superior to Olsalazine group,and Jinshuangqi group was superior to Meichang'an group.After 48 months of following-up no recurrence case was found in Jinshuangqi group while 3 recurrence cases were found in Meichang'an group and 18 cases in Olsalazine group.CONCLUSION:Probiotic preparations combined with olsalazine is better than olsalazine alone in the treatment of ulcerative colitis.
