Pragmatic Equivalence in Translation and Research on this Concept

Pragmatic equivalence in translation is currently a heated debate in translation studies.However,no widely accepted concept concerning pragmatic equivalence in translation has been defined.Theories in pragmatics such as relevance theory,speech act theory,cooperation principles,and the like,can be applied to research of translation equivalence so as to maximize equivalent effects in translation.Pragmatic equivalence in translation can be thus defined as attempts to maximize the similarity of effects of the translation on its readers to those of the original on the readers by adopting theories in pragmatics.
