Abstract

The effects of iso-osmotic Ca(NO3)2 and NaCl treatment on growth of cucumber seedlings were studied. The results showed that compared to control the dry weight (DW), fresh weight (FW), root activity and salt injury indexes of seedlings were significantly decreased under salt stress. As the expand of NaCl or Ca(NO3)2 concentration, indexes of salinity injury enhanced. Ca (NO3)2 had much more detrimental effects on the growth of cucumber seedlings than iso-osmotic NaCl.
