Abstract
Our music education acquired great achievements in the 20 th century, but there are deficiencies. The development of music education is hindered because of a lag behind the trends of world developed music culture in the beginning of the 20 th century. Traditional Chinese music is neglected, and learning from foreign music limited to European professional music. As we step into a historic era of economic globalization, cultural diversification is trends of the time. It is an important task of music education in the 21 st century to draw a lesson from the 20 th century and develop Chinese music tradition.
