Abstract

Objective:To examine the relationship between the severity of coronary artery lesions and carotid atherosclerosis.Methods:126 patients after diagnosed by coronary angiography(CAG),66 patients were divided into coronary artery disease(CAD)group and 60 patients were divided into without CAD group. These patients were measured the intimae media thickness(IMT).The numbers of plaque were recorded and the serious level were estimated. The extent of CAD was code as 1.2 branches or more according to the number of major coronary vessels with luminal stenosis. Results: IMT progressively increased with the severity of CAD,IMT of CAD group was obviously higher than that of without CAD group(P0.05).There were significant correlation between the plaque grades and the extent of CAD(P0.05).Conclusion: IMT measurement of carotids has great value in predicting the severity of coronary artery lesions.
