Abstract
The breakthroughs in contemporary science technology have greatly advanced the epistemological transformation in basic laws and categories of philosophy. Revolution in science technology is essentially one in ideology. By the same token, the revolution in modern science technology is one in productive forces. Thus Deng Xiaoping's Theory of Productive-force Level is an important development of Marxism. When science and technology turn means for material interests, they go beyond traditional values. The interaction between science technology in practice and the reconstruction of ethics is, therefore, an important theme in developing contemporary philosophy, which aims, with renewed foundation and spirit of a universal ethics, to shelter human souls in an age of material desires.
