Abstract
Sandy desertification,accompanied by the thicketization of grassland is widespread in the semiarid regions of Inner Mongolia,China.The state and transition model,a general model for the dynamics of grazing system in dry-lands,can be applied to this kind of desertification.As such,framework for the research into this process has been developed.Taking thicketization as a core component of desertification,this paper proposes a hypothesis on the mechanism of thicketization of the semiarid grasslands in Inner Mongolia.Temporal-spatial replacement is applied in order to research this kind of sandy desertification.This paper also discuses the significance of the study.
