Abstract
The paper analyzed the cognitive process of international theme schema construction in terms of content schema,formal schema and linguistic schema within the framework of the schema theory proposed by Carrell and established a general cognitive model. The study not only offered a new perspective to study the international theme novels but also extended the application of the theory.
