Abstract
Kapushaliang Group of Cretaceous composed of Yagelemu Formation, Shushanhe Formation and Baxiga Formation is one of the important oil gas reservoir horizons in the Northern Tarim basin.In this papper, the characteristics of the reservoir strata is summarized on the basis of petrological and physical features,the texture of porosity and the controlling features of reservoir strata.It was shown that the reservoir strata consist of sandstone with favourable physical features and hole texture.The reservoir is controlled by sedimentary rhythm in profile,by distribution of sedimentary facies in plane, and by such diagenesis as compaction, solution and cementation. Yagelemu Formation is a favourable reservoir in which the sandstone from Akekule to the west of Shaya is the most favourable reservoir.
