On the Evolvement of the Meanings of Chinese Word "pang"

Abstract
After the discussion about the distribution and development of the meanings of the Chinese word pang(旁),the following conclusion is drawn.During West Zhou Dynasty,widewas its common meaning.In Spring and Autumn and the Warring States Periods,one of its meaning ofside emerged and was widely used.After Han Dynasty,the meaning of wide tended to die out.At the same time,the meaning of other was widely used and became another meaning of pang(旁).
