Abstract
The paper analyses the female characters by elaborating on their appearance, love and charm.The paper clarifies that these female characters have great aesthetic value. They reflected the love of the women of various social classes from the late Tang Dynasty to the Five Dynasties.The paper reveals the reason and the cultural foundation of the female characters in Wen Tingyun's ci.The female characters contributed to the creation of the gen- tle style of ci,which has a great impact on the depiction of female characters in ci of Song dynastis,songs of Yuan dynasty and novels of Ming and Qing dynasty.The paper helps peo- ple to assess the female characters in Wen Tingyun's ci properly.
