Abstract

Based on the analysis of the actual increase and decrease of the cultivated area since the founding of the Republic of China,this paper refuted the statement that China's cultivated land has been basically desended since 1957 according to statistics of cultivated land area.However,land measurements and output setting carried out throughout the country clearly showed that the actual cultivated area being 10 853×10 4hm\+2 is most representative in the early days of New China.The statistics can simply reflect the actual cultivated area in China until 1960.Except \!the great leap forward period,the area under cultivation in China had continually increased in the main before 1980.It was then 13 250×10 4 to 13 970×10 4hm\+2,an increase by 1/5 to 1/4 than that in 1957.But in the last 15 years,China's cultivated land area has been decreasing gradually.
