Abstract
Detailed zircon U-Pb age dating was conducted on the Qinjia granite.The zircons have high Th/U ratios(higher than 0.1) and show zonal structure,which indicates that zircons are magmatic in origin.Our result indicates that the Qinjia granite is a complex massif and weighted average 206Pb/238U ages for zircons are 412.4±1.8 Ma,434.8±1.7 Ma,and 442.4±1.8 Ma,suggesting the granite formed in Late Ordovician to Silurian,an important stage of Caledonian magmatic activity.This provides powerful evidence for further understanding the Caledonian magmatism and its geodynamic process in South China.
