Abstract

The narrative mode of the detective fiction is quite complex.Limited by the level of vision and understanding, people find it difficult to break through linear study of time and the case by the traditional research methods. When people ' s thinking and vision develop and extend from the linear to the plane, from stereo to multi-dimension,the traditional time-based narrative model is bound to be replaced by space-based narrative pattern.Theme-set narration is a narrative model in which several narrative threads are linked together by a common theme. In essence,it is a form of spatial narration. Some modern or post-modern detective novelists have been using it consciously so as to raise the artistic level of detective works.
