Abstract

Objective To analyse the curative effect of intratympanic injection therapy with Gentamicin for the treatment of 19 patients with Meniere's disease. Methods 19 patients with intractable Meniere's disease were given gentamicin intratypanically 0.5~0.8 ml(30 mg/ml)once a week for three weeks continually. Results After 18 to 24 months followed up visit to the 19 patients with Meniere's disease treated by intratympanic injection of Gentamicin,we can find out 12 patients' vertigo were controlled within A level and 4 patients' vertigo were controlled within B level. The efficiency of controlling took up 84.2% except that 4 patients suffered hearing loss, occupying 21.1%.Conclusion The treatment of intratympanic injection of gentamicin is a simple and low cost effective method as well as less damage to hearing, which can be easily introduced in clinic.
