Abstract

AIM To investigate the protective effect of hyperoxia solution on the cerebral ischemia model. METHODS 18 domestic rabbits were randomly divided into three groups. In Group A the balance salt 20 mL·kg -1 (which wasreplaced by hyperoxia solution in Group A) was given intravenously to the animals after reperfusion. And in Group C hyperoxia solution 20 mL·kg -1 was infused intravenously everyday for 3 d before ischemia. The amount of NO and MDA as well as the activity of SOD in plasma were observed at different time points (before ischemia, after 20 min ischemia and after 45 min reperfusion). RESULTS 45 min after reperfusion, the amounts of NO and MDA in Group B and Group C were lower than those in Group A ( P 0.01 and P 0.05 respectively). But the activity of SOD in Group B were significantly higher than in Group A ( P 0.05). CONCLUSION Hyperoxia solution can mitigate the cerebral ischemia and reperfusion injury.
