Breeding and Application of New Weakly Photo-sensitive Hybrid Rice Combination Yuanfengyou 401 with Good Quality and High Yield

Abstract

Yuanfengyou 401,derived from the indica CMS line Yuanfeng A and the restorer line Minghui 401,is a new hybrid rice combination with weak sensitivity to photoperiod developed by Sanming Institute of Agricultural Sciences,Fujian Province. It is characteristic of high yield,good grain quality,strong cold tolerance,high seed set and suitable maturity. It was registered and released for commercial production by Guangxi Provincial Crop Variety Appraisal Committee in May,2008. This paper introduced its breeding procedure,main characteristics,cultivation and hybrid seed production techniques.
