Abstract
Objective To observe the cerebrovascular morphology in elderly patients with vascular vertigo by using digital subtraction angiography(DSA) and to provide the basis for etiological diagnosis and clinical treatment of this disease. Methods DSA was used to observe the cerebral vascular in 76 cases of patients with diagnosed vascular vertigo, the type of abnormal vascular structures and distribution feature were analyzed. Results 72 patients with different types and varying degrees of vascular abnormalities in total of 116 vessels,12 patients had carotid system lesions in 16 vessels and 65 patients had vertebral-basilar artery system lesions in 100 vessels. Two or more than two vessels of 25 patients were involved with a highest incidence of stenosis in vertebral artery combined with other vessels.Of 100 abnomal vessels in vertebral-basilar artery system,47 vessels had stenosis or occlusion and 47 vessels including 19 vertebral arteries had congenital dysplasia of posterior circulation. Conclusion Posterior circulation stenosis or occlusion, and congenital dysplasia may be the main reasons for vascular vertigo in the elderly.
