On the Characteristics of the Development of Ancient Chinese Novels——From Ghost Stories in Six Dynasties to Colloquial Stories of Song and Yuan Dynasties

Abstract
Ancient Chinese novels are classified into two major systems,that is,classical Chinese novels and vernacular Chinese fictions.Novels in Wei,Jin,Southern and Northern Dynasties depicted fantastic stories and anecdotes,and began to take shape of classical Chinese novels.Literary tales of Tang Dynasty began to show the features of novels,which symbolized the maturity of classical Chinese novels.Colloquial stories of Song and Yuan Dynasties,which are different from classical Chinese novels in their popularization,colloquialism and so on,became the stereotyped text of vernacular Chinese fictions.
