Clinical study of acupuncture combined with sodium hyaluronate injection on knee osteoarthritis

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of acupuncture combined with the sodium hyaluronate injection to treat knee osteoarthritis.Methods The 50 patients were randomly divided into treatment group(n=25) and control group(n=25).The patients in treatment group were treated with acupuncture combined with the sodium hyaluronate injection,and in control group with the sodium hyaluronate injection only.Acupuncture was performed once a day for five weeks,and the sodium hyaluronate injection was used once a week for five weeks.Then the curative effects before and after the treatment,and the pain,swelling,activity and mobility were observed and compared.Result Compared with control group,the curative effect in treatment group was obviously higher(Z=-2.263,P=0.024).Comparison of pre-treatment and post-treatment,all the patients were effectively ameliorated in pain,swelling and mobility(P 0.05),and in treatment group was significantly higher than in control group in pain and mobility(P0.05).But between two groups there were not effectively difference in swelling(P 0.05).Conclusion The union treatment of acupuncture and the sodium hyaluronate injection may obtain the satisfactory effect,which is worth to be recommended in clinic.
