Abstract
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of injection of ozone combined with sodium hyaluronate in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis.Methods One hundred and twenty patients with knee osteoarthritis were randomly divided into treatment group and control group. In treatment group patients were treated with articular cavity injection of ozone (35 μg/ml, 10 ml) combined with sodium hyaluronate; in control group only with sodium hyaluronate. The VAS of pain, Lysholm scores of knee joint function and side effect were recorded before the treatment and at the 7th day, 1st, 6th and the 12th month after treatment.Results The VAS of treatment group were significantly decreased at the 7th day, 1st, 6th and the 12th month after treatment (P0.05). The Lysholm scores of treatment group were significantly increased at each time point after treatment. The total effective rate of treatment group (93.3%) was significantly higher than the control group (81.7%) (P0.01). The obvious side effects of two groups were not observed.Conclusion Injection of ozone combined with sodium hyaluronate in articular cavity may a safe and effective method for treatment of knee osteoarthritis, it is able to control pain quickly and lasting, to improve the function of knee joint, especially for the old patients accompanied with other disease.
