Zhang Xitang′s research on The Book of Songs

Mr.Zhang Xitang′s research on The Book of Songs was studied mainly based on his Six Essays on the Book of Songs.Zhang Xitang holds The Book of Song as the ancient Chinese Songs collection,which in ancient China no selections of songs,about 300 poems chosen among 3 000 poems were impossible;Confucius censored poems also can not be trusted;for the system of The Book of Song,Mr.Zhang regards Nan,Ya,and Song as instruments,different from Guofeng;Mr.Zhang refutes not only all sorts of Absurd paradox of Maoshixu,but also its author.Mr.Zhang also penetrates into the ideological content and artistic expression of The Book of Songs.His studies on The Book of Song have a considerable impact on the later generations,though some conclusions still are open to discuss.As to Mr.Zhang′s research methods,they mainly are enumerating and comparing,embodies strict and solid school tradition of the Critical Interpretation of Ancient Texts.
