Abstract
The thought of helping others to establish themselveswas the thought of Enlightenment sharing by many intellectuals with radical point of view during the period of May 4th Movement.In order to transform deep rooted bad habit of nationals,Lin Yutang also did his utmost to call forscienceand to advocateEuropeanizationand to recommend humourin an impetuous and swift and fierce gesture.His purpose and point of sight were quite different from those of Lu Xun and other intellectuals in showing the uniqueness and the richness of his thought ofhelping others to establish themselves.The researeh on this issue is conducive to a deeper and integrated understanding the complexity of Lin Yutang′s outlook of humanism.
