Context and the Choice of Meaning in Translation

Context plays an important role in the meaning translation process.This paper beginning with the definition of context and the characteristics of meaning,discusses the relationship between meaning and context from two perspectives: linguistic context and the choice of meaning;non-linguistic context and the choice of meaning.It holds that context is indispensable for the choice of meaning in translation process,and translation must be combined with certain context.
