Abstract
In accordance with the regulations of The Agreement of UN Convention to Combat Desertification, based on the Major Technical Rules of the State Desert Supervision, the article rules out the potential areas of desertification in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and monitors generally the situation of desertification of Inner Mongolia. In the process of monitoring, the technique of 3S(GIS/RS/GPS) is fully used, and a site survey and a remote interpretation are used integrally. Moreover, the desertification degrees are determined by using mathematics and physics statistics. At the same time, based on making sure of the desertification range ruled out by the Agreement of UN Desert Control, the article also surveys the desertification situation that is out of the range. The survey result shows that the desertified area in Inner Mongolia is 74.39×10 4km 2 (approximately 1.116 billion mu), accounting for 62.88% of the total area of 118.3×10 4km 2, so as to refer the construction and planning of ecological environment in the region.
