Abstract
[Objective] To explore the expression of human mammaglobin(hMAM mRNA) in peripheral blood(PB) from patients with breast cancer and its clinical significance.[Methods] The expression of hMAM mRNA in PB was detected from 58 patients with breast cancer,10 breast benign lesions and 10 healthy volunteers using RT-PCR.[Results] 78 samples had cDNA amplification. The positive expression rate of hMAM mRNA was 34.5%,no positive hMAM mRNA was found in PB of patients with breast benign lesions or healthy volunteers.HMAM mRNA expression was correlated with axillary lymph nodes status and TNM stage(P0.05).[Conclusion] hMAM mRNA is sensitive and specific for breast cancer, the positive expression of hMAM in PB might predict micrometastasis and be of value in the diagnosis and judgement of prognosis of breast cancer.
