Abstract

A new catalytic spectrophotometry for determination of trace iron was estblished.The method was based on the catalysis of trace iron to oxidize O-methoxyhnol with ammonium persulfate in H2SO4 medium.The linear range for Fe are 0.002~0.6 μg/25 mL,and the detection limit are 7.25×10~(-10) g/mL.The recoveries for water samples are from 98.1% to 106.1%,and RSD are less than 4.85%.This method has been applied to the determination of trace iron in water with satisfactory results.
