Abstract

Based on the inhibitory effect of trace amounts of vanadium(Ⅴ) on the oxidation of 2-(5-bromo-2-hyridylazo)-5-diethylaminophenol (5-Br-PADAP) by potassium bromate in a dilute sulphuric acid solution, a new kinetic photometric method for the determination of trace of vanadium(Ⅴ) was established. The detection limit is 0 043μg·L -1 and the linear range of determination is 0~4.0μg·L -1. The method has been applied to the determination of trace amounts of vanadium(Ⅴ) in human hair and tea samples with satisfactory results.
