Abstract

A new inhibitory spectrophotometric method for the determination of trace vanadium (V) has been proposed. The method is based on the inhibitory effect of vanadium (V) on the oxidation of dimetheyl yellow by potassium bromate.Under the experimental optimum conditions, the linear dynamic range of this method is 0.40-4.0μg/ L, the detection limit is 2.3×10-10g/mL. The method has been used to determine trace vanadium(V) in tea and human hair samples with satisfactory results.
