Abstract
A prediction model for pulp Kappa number during eucalyptus kraft pulping was presented. Based on the relationships between the pulp Kappa number and pulping parameters such as H-factor,initial concentration of alkali and sulfide, and residual alkali in the cooking liquor,an empirical model,i.e.,K=A+B/{H[(CAA -0.5S·CAA)-(0.5S·CAA+CREA)]2} with A = 9.50 and B = 9.28×105,was proposed. The result showed that there is a good agreement (R2 = 0.9152) between the measured and predicted pulp Kappa number, indicating that the model is justifiable to be applied to predict pulp Kappa number during eucalyptus kraft pulping.
