Abstract
Asynchronous Transfer Mode has been consistently regarded as the basic transfer technology for broadband network. The architecture of ATM protocol and its cell switching principles are introduced basically in this paper, as well as ATM network resource management schemes. And the key techniques of ATM switches and its combination with IP network are analyzed in detail, followed by survey of these techniques. Finally the application problems of ATM technology are mentioned with proposals in the end of this paper.
