Application of asiaticoside tablet on keloid patients treated with surgery and radiation

Objective To observe the prophylactic effects of asiaticoside tablet on scar recurrence and skin pigmentation in keloid patients treated with surgery and radiation.Methods Analyzing the clinical data of 129 keloid patients treated in our center.All the patients were treated with keloid excision and adjacent radiation.After operation,patients were randomly devided into asiaticoside tablet treatment group(n=71) and control group(n=58).In the 6～ 12 months of following time after 6 months treatment,their scar recurrence and skin pigmentation were observed and compared.Results There was significant difference between asiaticoside tablet treatment group and control group,scar recurrence rates in two groups were 1.48% and 10.58% respectively(P0.05),and skin color resuming in two groups were(4.71±0.89)months and(7.10±0.98)months,the difference is obvious(P0.05).Conclusion Asiaticoside tablet orally taken after operation can prevent from scar recurrence and decrease the skin pigmentation in keloid patients treated with surgery and radiation.
