Abstract

Routers deal with congestion by means of active queue management algorithms. One of the widely used algorithms is Random Early Detection algorithm. The paper discusses RED algorithm in detail and gives ways to improve the performance of RED algorithm. Then, their virtues and shortcomings are analyzed. Finally the paper points out the direction of research.
