Abstract
Objective This research investigated the expression level of ostoepontin(OPN) in serum and urine of gastric cancer patients, also approached the effects of OPN in diagnosis and monitoring of the course and prognosis of gastric cancer. Methods The concentration of OPN in 60 serum and urine samples of gastric cancer patients,42 serum and urine samples of gastric ulcer patients and 33 serum and urine samples of healthy persons were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results The expression levels of OPN in serum and urine of gastric cancer patients(104.4±36.3) μg/L,(230.0±46.7) μg/L were significantly higher than those in serum and urine of gastric ulcer patients(47.8±29.6) μg/L,(98.9±40.2) μg/L and healthy examination persons(36.5±24.8) μg/L,(86.0±35.2) μg/L(P0.01).The expression levels of OPN in serum and urine of gastric cancer patients were higher along with PTNM stage, the size of the tumor, the metastasis of lymph node and distant metastasis. The concentrations of both serum and urinary OPN had positive correlation(r=0.92,P0.01). Conclusion The concentrations of both serum and urinary OPN can reflex the tumor load of gastric cancer, the assay of OPN in serum and urine of gastric cancer patients is helpful in diagnosis, predicting the risk for metastasis and prognosis in gastric cancer.
