Analysis on Shrinkage Rate of the Main Bamboo Species in the North of Guizhou Province

Abstract

The shrinkage rate of several kinds of bamboo species in the north of Guizhou province was studied to provide the basis for fine varieties breeding and bamboo industry development.The results show that there exists some differences in shrinkage rate among the various bamboo species.Shrinkage rates of Dendrocalamus latiflorus,Bambusa rigida,Bambusa pervariabilis×Dendrocalamopsis daii and Sinocalamus beecheyanus are relatively high,that of Dendrocalamus barbatus,Chimonobambusa utilis and Phyllostachys bambusoides are relatively low and the others are moderate.Of all the different bamboo species,the whole stem shrinkage is greater than the air-dry shrinkage and there are differences in the whole stem and air-dry shrinkage among them.The whole stem and air-dry shrinkage of Dendrocalamus barbatus,Phyllostachys bambusoides,Neosinocalamus affinis,Dendrocalamopsis vario-striata are relatively big,and that of Dendrocalamus latiflorus,Bambusa distegia,Dendrocalamus farinosus,Sinocalamus beecheyanus are moderate,while that of Bambusa rigida,Dendrocalamus minor,Bambusa pervariabilis×Dendrocalamopsis daii,Dendrocalamus yunnanicus,Dendrocalamus sapidus,Chimonobambusa utilis are small.
